Loyal Readers: Sometime when I’m trying to make a decision, I write a story as if it has already happened. (Something I highly recommend if you are trying to decide how you feel about something) This is that story. I have put in my notice and am in the process of hiring and training a replacement.

Hey! Here is something new and original! I’m going to quit my job and write about it!
I have been talking (bragging) about this for years. I am going to do it. Quit my job. Be a freewheeling freelancer. No more steady paycheck for this girl. Insurance? That is for lemmings! I go my own way.
Reasons Against:
I’m 57; like expensive travel, have meals delivered, have a new home and car, promoted away from any marketable skill.
Reasons For:

How did I get here? Long story short I fought my way into higher education. Soon after I got going the bottom fell out. Kaplan University, one of the first online for-profit higher education organizations went from 22 students to 100,000 in about 7 years, give or take. Then down to 35,000.
Kaplan University became Purdue University Global. There were reorganizations and layoffs and mass hirings for special projects. I quit and got fired. Rehired as a temp promoted to senior manager. Things that can only happen when an organization hangs on after all these changes. I don’t mean to sound trite, but if you know you know. If you don’t, count your blessings.
Frankly considering my complete lack of direction. I think I killed it. But the point is it’s not me. When I became an ID (Instructional Designer) that was my jam. The rest is all bullshit.
So, that’s how I got here.
